Why We Do It

Everyone, no matter their background, deserves to bank at a financial institution that cares about their financial well-being. Onward with Centra Credit Union works to reach communities where individuals are unbanked or underbanked, meaning they haven’t had the opportunity to work with a financial institution, or their current situation has barred them from reaching financial empowerment. Our goal is to give these individuals the tools and support they need to create strong relationships with their finances. That’s why we aim to provide banking with a cause.

Our commitment to our Communities

Onward with Centra Credit Union is committed to providing quality financial education to unbanked or underbanked individuals to help promote a healthy relationship with their finances. Onward is also committed to reaching younger communities, such as in high schools, to help our youth gain financial empowerment at a young age. Onward is committed to the well-being of the Communities Centra serves.

Low-Income Designation Credit Union (LIDCU)

Centra is designated as an LIDCU and provides valuable access to financial services for individuals of all income levels, including those who are unbanked or underbanked. A credit union can become an LIDCU when their potential or actual membership (50.01%) qualifies as low-income. According to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), low-income in this instance means an individual or family’s income is 80% or less than the median income for the area where they live or for the national area, whichever is greater.
